Information We Collect
PlateIQ collects account information such as email address, name, and authentication details. We also collect profile and goal information including nutrition goals, weight, activity level, dietary preferences, and daily targets. Meal information includes photos you upload, detected foods, estimated calories, macronutrients, PlateIQ Score, and suggestions. We process technical information required to operate the app, authenticate requests, store data, and maintain security.
How We Use Information
PlateIQ uses information to create and manage accounts, keep you signed in securely, save goals and profile settings, analyze meal photos or descriptions, estimate calories and macronutrients, generate a PlateIQ Score and supportive suggestions, save and display meal history, allow account and meal deletion, and maintain app reliability and security.
Meal Photos and AI Analysis
When you analyze a meal, PlateIQ may upload the selected image to Supabase Storage and send it through a Supabase Edge Function to OpenAI for AI-powered meal analysis. The AI may estimate foods, calories, macros, confidence, a PlateIQ Score, and improvement suggestions. Nutrition estimates are not exact and can be affected by image quality, portion size, hidden ingredients, sauces, preparation method, and AI limitations.
Third-Party Services
PlateIQ uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, serverless Edge Functions, and meal image storage. PlateIQ uses OpenAI to process meal images or descriptions and generate nutrition estimates and supportive suggestions. Data is sent only as needed to provide the meal analysis feature.
Data Retention and Deletion
PlateIQ keeps profile information, goals, meal history, analysis results, and uploaded meal images while your account is active. You can delete individual meals from meal history. You can permanently delete your account and associated PlateIQ app data from the Profile & Goals screen in the app.
Tracking and Advertising
PlateIQ does not sell personal information. PlateIQ does not use meal photos, account data, or nutrition information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Health and Nutrition Disclaimer
PlateIQ is for general wellness and informational purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or individualized medical nutrition therapy. Users should consult a qualified health professional for medical questions, allergies, eating-disorder concerns, pregnancy, chronic conditions, or personalized dietary guidance.
Children
PlateIQ is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through PlateIQ, contact us so we can review and delete the information if appropriate.
Security
PlateIQ uses Supabase authentication, database access controls, and server-side Edge Functions to help protect user data. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep data access limited to what is needed for the app to function.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as PlateIQ changes. The updated date above will show when the policy was last revised.
